Match report written by Yeovil Town official website

Yeovil Town slipped to a 1-0 friendly defeat at Stevenage this evening in a competitively fought match.

Striker Tim Sills 82nd minute winner was all that split the sides in a fixture behind closed doors arranged between the managers and played away from their Broadhall Way base.

Yeovil boss Terry Skiverton gave five trialists their chance this evening and, as on Saturday against Wycombe, made wholesale changes at half time.

His starting eleven saw Richard Martin in goal and included Nathan Jones in defence, Luke Ayling in midfield, Andy Williams out wide and a strike pairing of Sam Williams and Luke Freeman.

It was the Glovers who were marginally the better side in the first half. Ayling, Andy Williams and Freeman all had chances to open the scoring before Stevenage got back into the game through a chance for a trial striker.

Sam Williams hit the side netting on the half hour and one of the trialists curled a free kick just over the bar.

At half time, Skiverton made nine changes with just a trialist and Nathan Jones remaining on the pitch. They were joined by Nathan Smith, Stefan Stam, Danny Hutchins, Andy Welsh, Ed Upson and Dean Bowditch from the regular first team pool.

Welsh created himself an opportunity in the early stages but saw his shot blocked by the home keeper and Stevenage's lively striker twice shot wide when seemingly certain to score.

Stam was twice denied with powerful headers from corners, the latter of which was cleared off the line with the keeper beaten but within a minute, Stevenage had opened the scoring.

A ball through from midfield set up Sills and the former Torquay striker finished off well to grab the winner.

Bowditch went closest for Yeovil in the dying moments but his free kick was blocked, and his follow-up effort was deflected for a corner.
