BALDOCK V STEVENAGE
Played at Baldock on Saturday in foggy weather, the home team winning by two goals to one. Playing with the slope in their favour Baldock confined the play to the visitors' territory. Twenty minutes from the commencement of the game, which was limited to half-an-hour each way owing to the late arrival of the visitors, Hilton opened the scoring. This aroused the Stevenage men, who ran down straight from the centre kick and equalised with a low shot.
After change of ends both teams tried hard to gain the lead, this eventually falling to the home side, who had been playing a most consistent game, Skrimshire doing the needful with ashot that beat the goalkeeper all the way. Skrimshire nearly repeated his performance with a splendid cross shot from the extreme left, which certainly deserved to score, but was just turned aside by the goalkeeper.
