WALKERN V STEVENAGE TOWN
Played at Walkern on Saturday. Stevenage were without Field and Bird, but otherwise were practically at full strength. Walkern scored through G. Holland in the first half with a long shot which Parsons failed to judge properly. The second half was all in favour of Walkern, who notched two more points by Poulter and Allison. Stevenage were never dangerous. For the home team the backs all played well but the forwards were not up to form. G. Holland played an exceptionally fine game and was the best man on the field. Wray and Lovelace were the most conspicuous for Stevenage, who quite underrated the worth of their opponents.
A correspondent says the game upset some of the Stevenage players, who lost their tempers and made us of regrettable language, one of them doing all he could to annoy and assault the referee.
