WELWYN RESERVES V STEVENAGE RESERVES
Played at welwyn on Saturday, the visitors winning by 2-1. Hill took the ball through, and avoiding Curtis scored with a very slow shot, which Fegan could not save through the home backs getting in too close. By this goal Stevenage led at half-time, the play having been fairly even. After ends were changed fouls against the visitors became frequent, and a penalty was given against them. Odell took the kick, but the ball hit the crossbar and rebounded into play. Then from a free-kick for "hands" against Wells, Stevenage scored a second goal.
Welwyn undaunted again attacked, and A. Males sent in a good shot which to the spectators seemed to be in the net before the goalkeeper attempted to save. Welwyn kept up the pressure, and a few minutes before time Giddens scored for them, and so the game ended - Stevenage Reserves, 2: Welwyn Reserves, 1. Fegan in goal was very good. Andrews was the best back on the field. Giddens at centre-half played good football. In the forward line the right wing was decidedly the better, showing pretty combination throughout. Odell played well at centre and had hard luck in not scoring.
